Groups

The D+C Group is looking to work with community groups across North Herts to help them achieve their goals. Each group is individual and their own entity, but by working together on common goals and sharing knowledge and experience, we can achieve more and have a prominent voice when we speak as one.

If you have already established a community group would like to know more, please get in touch.

If there is a section of the community that isn’t currently represented in your area and want us to help create a new group to help, we would love to hear from you.

Here are some of the groups that already work under the D&C banner:

Summary Mission Statement

  • NHACC core values are: Unity – Equality – Representation – Growth – Heritage
  • These values are mirrored within the North Herts Diversity and Culture Groups.

Vision

  • For organisations of African, Caribbean and Mixed Heritage Community groups to work together across a variety of sectors. Together, form a larger community association to achieve our aims of development and integration. Collectively, we aim to promote an accurate, balanced representation of people from multiple backgrounds within the community.
  • We aim to support our family from other minority ethnic groups to develop a similar strategy and empower them to grow through their unique expression of cultural identity. By drawing individual communities together, we can appreciate the duality of our own cultures and the multifaceted nature of North Hertfordshire as a whole.
  • We want to support the most vulnerable in our communities by gaining access to services and to increase cultural awareness within the wider community through learning activities, cultural activities, funded projects, mentoring work, counselling, setting up businesses and establishment of small businesses, employability and community consultation.
  • We aim to support groups and individuals from diaspora backgrounds in North Hertfordshire. We will tackle social, economic, health, cultural and educational inequalities that affect our BAME community groups and work with local organisations to provide better opportunities in the future.

Values

  • Unity- within diverse Community Groups and individuals working together to achieve joint goals. Shared mission of improving social, economic, health, cultural and educational outcomes of people from minority groups of North Hertfordshire.
  • Equality- Bridging the gap between Black Minority groups and the wider North Hertfordshire community. Providing a platform for the community to thrive through improved partnerships with local government. Building interconnected relationships with the wider community and each other through project working.
  • Representation- Being a visible influential presence throughout the North Hertfordshire community. Supporting cultural integration. Working jointly toward the same goals to reduce duplication and promote effective and shared use of resources.
  • Growth- Increasing Black Minority businesses and supporting their development from start-ups to thriving Small &Medium Enterprises. Developing innovation within local communities. Promoting training, learning and development of Black Minority business owners. Encouraging community professionals to trade skills to ensure they thrive.
  • Heritage- Celebrating the cultural diversity of Black Minority groups through storytelling, music, art, dance and spoken word. Sharing the uniqueness of the individual facets of our culture.
  • Our aim is to achieve that same level of cohesive work with all Diversity groups under the North Herts Diversity and Culture umbrella. We strive to allow the group autonomy, while supporting them through alignment with our vision and values.
