Kava has over 15 years of experience in the Third sector in a variety of voluntary and salaried posts. She currently works for Hertfordshire County Council, supporting young people to prepare for adulthood in the 0-25 Service.
Kava’s love for community engagement started as a teenager in the church. From there the desire to learn about others and empower them to meet their needs has taken her to many different organisations in the UK and abroad.
Kava is a local girl and has spent most of her life in Hertfordshire. The daughter of parents born in Jamaica, the draw of learning about worlds different from the one around her came at a young age.
Now she is using her passion to contribute to the Diversity + Culture committee and serve the community yet again. She hopes to share her Caribbean culture with all, while supporting others from Caribbean community to do the same and learn more about all of the people who make up the melting pot of Herts.
